Have gone for a long walk. Will be home tomorrow.
In the performance Have gone for a long walk. Will be home tomorrow.
I am exploring the living and dying of my grandparents. I start at the cemetery where I am excavating the grave of my grandfather with my bare hands. I take the earth to my studio, I undress and wash myself with the earth. Later, I dip 93 apples in cold dark varnish. For a public performance at Otto Mauer Centre Vienna I spread out the earth on the floor where it forms little hills. In this landscape I put the wooden stool of a stranger and fill its drawer with earth. I make small holes in the earth and bury three teeth of my grandmother in the drawer. I sit down, I peel 93 black apples, I peel myself through the life of my grandmother, I peel for two hours till the last apple falls down to the ground.
