Esther Strauß (born in 1986) is an Austrian performance artist and writer. Strauß transforms the woods into her studio, tells tales with a love for gaps and chases light hearted experiments. In 2015 she sleeps and dreams on Anna Freud's psychoanalytical couch at Sigmund Freud Museum London.
From 2005 to 2011 Strauß studied at the art universities of Linz and Bristol to graduate with diplomas in performance art and cultural sciences. Since then she exhibits internationally and also won numerous prizes, most recently the Paul Flora Award 2022, the Theodor Körner Award 2020 und LENTOS Award 2018. Since 2015 Strauß teaches at the University of Art and Design in Linz; her lectures focus on art writing. The artist lives, breathes and works between Vienna, London, Kolkata, anywhere while walking.
